Job summary

Nokia in Ottawa is seeking a Coherent Optical Systems Engineer to join the Optical Systems Group. You will contribute to design, characterization, and development of next-generation coherent transceivers based on PIC and DSP technologies, working with early prototype hardware and cross-functional teams.

The role requires deep expertise in optical communications, high-speed electronics, and data analysis, with hands-on lab experience and programming in Matlab or Python.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics.
• Experience in optical communications or photonics.
• Strong background in coherent communications and modulation formats.
• Experience with high-speed RF and mm-wave interconnects.
• Hands-on HW and lab measurement experience.
• Programming experience in Matlab or Python.

Responsibilities

• Digital-optical integration of next-generation coherent optical transceivers.
• Development of calibration and controls algorithms to maximize system performance.
• Performance characterization of coherent pluggable transceivers and sub-components.
• Collaborate in cross-functional product development with software, electronics, optics, and test teams.
