Job summary

Pilot Coffee Roasters in Toronto, ON is hiring a Coffee Roaster to join our roastery team. You will operate roasting equipment, manage green coffee inventory, and ensure each batch aligns with our taste profiles under the guidance of the Coffee + Roasting Manager.

Daily duties include executing roast schedules, performing QC checks with Agtron and moisture meters, and helping onboard new team members while maintaining a safe, productive roastery environment.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years coffee industry experience (roasting or production operations preferred).
  • Strong passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning.
  • Experience using quality control equipment (e.g., Agtron, moisture meters) is an asset.
  • Forklift certification is an asset.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing to wear PPE in roasting areas.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily roast schedules per roast profiles.
  • Perform quality control checks on each roast.
  • Receive, inspect, and track green coffee shipments.
  • Maintain and log green coffee inventory using roasting software and logs.
  • Clean and maintain roasting equipment.
  • Mentor new team members on roasting techniques and safety.

Position Summary

As a Coffee Roaster at Pilot Coffee Roasters, you will play a central role in crafting our specialty coffees and maintaining our high standards of quality. Working alongside the Coffee + Roasting Manager, you will operate roasting equipment, manage green coffee inventory, and ensure every batch meets our profile and taste specifications.

Position: Coffee Roaster

Location: 50 Wagstaff Dr. Toronto, ON.

Starting Pay: $20 - $24 per hour

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Roasting Operations & Inventory
  • Execute daily roast schedules efficiently while adhering strictly to established roast profiles.
  • Perform quality control checks on every roast batch using specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Receive, inspect, and track green coffee shipments, reporting any discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain and log green coffee inventory using roasting software software and roast logs.
  • Clean and maintain roasting equipment according to scheduled maintenance rosters.
  • Assist in onboarding and educating new team members on roasting techniques and safety protocols.
  • Manage MRP item data, NetSuite records, roasting software logs, and BOM updates accurately.
