Job summary

Ausenco in Burnaby is seeking an experienced engineer focused on coastal studies to lead critical projects. The ideal candidate has 3 to 10 years of relevant experience and a degree in civil engineering. About the Role
  • Carry out coastal studies related to assess waves and wave loading, currents, hydrodynamics, morphodynamics, vessel motions, and their relation to the project.
  • Perform numerical simulations and develop / maintain tools for their processing.
  • Help maintain and expand Ausenco’s coastal engineering toolkit in a collaborative way.
  • Design of coastal structure facilities and structures, from concept to detailed design, including understanding of environmental loads and layout of port facilities.
  • Help grow the business and the coastal services of Ausenco, especially digital ones.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary project team to support the coastal engineering designs and studies according to project timeframes and budget.
About You
  • 3 to 10 years of experience in engineering, hydraulics, hydrodynamics, port and coastal structures, or related fields with a coastal focus.
  • Eligible for Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration.
  • Degree in civil engineering with a diploma in hydraulics or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate studies in coastal engineering (preferred).
  • Strong foundation in computer science. Experience in using Python’s data stack would be an asset.
  • Experience in coastal engineering topics, and with numerical modeling of physical processes using tools such as Delft3D.
  • Experience designing coastal facilities and structures, including risk assessment, failure probability, and construction feasibility.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Organized, proactive, and eager to learn from senior engineers.
  • Interest in developing long‑term expertise in coastal and marine engineering.
  • Additional languages (French, Spanish, or Portuguese) are also an asset.

Salary range

$90,000 - $150,000 annually
