Co-op Student, Antibody Discovery and Engineering

Position Overview

We are seeking a Co-op Student to join our Antibody Discovery and Engineering team within the Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) Therapeutic Development department. The role involves supporting experimental tasks related to antibody discovery, including antibody generation, humanization, formatting, and functional characterization. The successful candidate will analyze results critically and contribute to developing therapeutics.

Location and Compensation

This position is based in Vancouver, BC, reporting to a Senior Research Associate. The hourly wage is $21.00 CAD, and candidates must be available to work on-site without relocation assistance.

Responsibilities
  1. Support mammalian tissue culture, maintaining tumor cell lines with sterile techniques.
  2. Qualify antigens and perform sera titering for immunization campaigns.
  3. Conduct high-throughput antibody characterization using Octet, flow cytometry, ELISA, and cytotoxicity assays.
  4. Perform molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning, and plasmid prep.
  5. Optimize high-throughput assays with automation.
  6. Potentially perform FACS analysis.
  7. Analyze data and prepare presentations for group meetings.
  8. Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebooks and adhere to protocols and safety regulations.
  9. Contribute to a safe, efficient laboratory environment.
Qualifications
  1. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related field; previous co-op experience preferred.
  2. Experience with mammalian tissue culture, FACS, flow cytometry, ELISA, or molecular biology techniques is a plus.
  3. Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint; GraphPad, FlowJo are assets).
  5. Basic knowledge of antibody and ADC structure and function is beneficial.
