Job summary

RBC Borealis in Montréal is seeking a Co-op Machine Learning Software Engineer to work end-to-end—from data preprocessing to implementing machine learning algorithms and front-end development.

You will collaborate with researchers, work with rich datasets, and explore reinforcement learning, unsupervised learning and computer vision in a highly capable environment.

This paid fixed-term role offers hands-on ML research experience within Canada’s leading financial institution.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in CS/CE/SE or equivalent.
• Some software development experience (co-ops/internships) preferred.
• Experience with C++, C#, Java or Python is desirable.
• Familiarity with Unix command line and bash scripting.
• Experience with Deep Learning packages (TensorFlow, Theano, Keras, PyTorch) is a plus.
• Exposure to distributed computing frameworks (Hadoop, Spark) and databases (SQL/NoSQL/Graph) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build ML-based software solutions for important problems.
• Collaborate with research and business teams to converge on best solutions.
• Optimize algorithms and prototypes for efficient implementation.
• Extend prototypes into fully functional, polished solutions for internal/external use.
• Document usage, design decisions and capabilities thoroughly.
• Extract, transform, and load massive datasets using distributed computing frameworks.
