Job summary

Nutrien is seeking a motivated student for a five-month co-op at our Calgary office. You will contribute to the development, unit testing, and deployment of custom digital web applications on AWS, and assist in building and maintaining software modules.

You’ll shadow senior developers, learn React front ends, serverless tech like Lambda and DynamoDB, and collaborate with agile teams to gather requirements and document designs.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related program at a recognized post-secondary institution
• Demonstrates a curious mindset by actively investigating business needs and seeking opportunities to apply technology or digital solutions
• Excellent interpersonal skills, aptitude for problem-solving, and ability to work in a team environment
• Strong sense of team spirit and ability to work collaboratively while also taking ownership of tasks

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development, unit testing, and deployment of custom digital web applications hosted on AWS
• Participate in design, building, and maintenance of software modules
• Shadow senior developers to evaluate technologies for enterprise scalability and performance
• Learn React front ends and serverless technologies (Lambda, DynamoDB) and micro-service architectures
• Collaborate with enterprise agile delivery team including project managers, business analysts, QA, developers, and UX/UI designers
• Work with IT teams such as infrastructure, cyber security, and data services/analytics
• Gather, clarify, and document requirements with business stakeholders
• Run software development workflows supporting analysis, implementation, testing, and documentation

Job Summary

An exciting co-op opportunity awaits a motivated student at our Calgary or Saskatoon corporate office beginning January for an approximate 5-month term. This is a temporary, full-time, hourly-paid position and is open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to the development, unit testing, and deployment of custom digital web applications hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Participate in the design, building, and maintenance of software modules
• Shadow senior developers as they evaluate technologies and design for enterprise scalability, performance, and optimization
• Build working knowledge about responsive React front ends and, leading serverless technologies (such as Lambda and DynamoDB) and micro-service-based architectures
• Actively work with other roles in an enterprise agile delivery team, including project managers, business analysts, QA, application developers, and UX/UI designers
• Work with other IT teams – such as infrastructure, cyber security, and data services/analytics
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document requirements
• Run agentic software development workflows to support requirements analysis, implementation, testing, and documentation
• Learn AWS, React, TypeScript, C#, Splunk, GitHub, Jira, and many other technologies

What You’ll Bring

• Applicants must be currently enrolled in, and have completed at least one year of, a Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or other related program at a recognized post‑secondary institution, such as a university, college, or polytechnic
