Job summary

Gerdau is offering a co-op/internship for an Electrical Engineer (8 month term). The successful candidate will join the Reliability Team site-wide from Sept/27 to Apr/28, gaining hands-on experience in a major steel producer with a global footprint.

Responsibilities include drawing updates, vendor coordination, and supporting capex improvements. Candidates must have completed at least two years of an Electrical degree, strong academics, and familiarity with AutoCAD/PLCs.

Qualifications

  • Completed at least two years of a degree from a recognized university in Electrical discipline.
  • Record of high academic achievement (GPA 2.5 or higher; GPA 3.0+ preferred).
  • Experience with AutoCAD design software, PLCs and automation would be a benefit.
  • Well-rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular activities.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Update equipment/facility drawings with site-reliability team.
  • Work with outside vendors and consultants; assist in managing contractors.
  • Assist engineers with capex improvement projects.
  • Support electrical planner and work with the team.
  • Manage smaller non-capex projects and plan electrical jobs.

ElectricalIntern:

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate(s) will be working with our Reliability Team site wide for the period of Sept/27 - April/28. Following on-the-job training and orientation, the candidates may:

  • Update equipment /facility drawings

Requirements:

  • Have completed at least two years of a degree from a recognized university in an Electrical discipline
  • Record of high academic achievement (Minimum GPA 2.5; preferred GPA 3.0 or higher)
  • Experience with AutoCAD design software, PLC's and automation would be a benefit
  • Well-rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extra-curricular activities
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the Canada without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with great organizational qualities
  • Ability to work independently and be a fast-learner
