Job summary

Jobtailor invites a driven candidate in Ottawa to join our Corporate IT and App Excellence teams as an aspiring analyst. You will analyze business processes and requirements, support application lifecycle activities, and help decommission obsolete tools while ensuring data quality and compliance.

The role emphasizes collaboration with IT partners and business users, with opportunities to develop in SDLC, cloud technologies, and integration projects.

Qualifications

Located in the Eastern or Atlantic time zone in Canada.
Currently enrolled in 3rd year or more or recently graduated from Information Systems, MIS, Information Technology, Business Technology Management, Software Development, or a related program.
Currently enrolled in full-time education or a recent/upcoming graduate within 12 months of the placement end date.
Functional/professional experience in business analysis, project management, testing, application support, implementing, and/or configuring applications.
Ability to prioritize tasks based on business needs.
Clear, concise, and professional communication skills, with ability to present information to varied audiences.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to apply sound judgment and think critically.
Ability to identify and evaluate alternative solutions to meet business needs.
Experience with design, configuration, and/or support of applications such as Putty, SnagIt, Atlassian, Microsoft, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Eloqua, SuccessFactors, Gainsight, or Netsuite would help.
Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile best practices would help.
Knowledge of cloud technologies, object-oriented and web-based systems, applications, environments, and relevant tools/technology would help.
Technical background, system/data integration experience, or API development experience would be a plus.
Working knowledge of SQL for querying databases would help.

Responsibilities

Identify and analyze business processes, user requirements, and system requirements.
Complete the Application Lifecycle Management checklist and ensure applications are compliant.
Complete business criticality scorecards with the business.
Maintain data quality for the catalogue of all applications.
Ensure various teams have accurate application information.
Identify duplicate application functionality and determine decommissioning candidates.
Support users in migrating from decommissioned tools to supported ones.
Follow the application decommission process after tools have no users.
Contribute to business analysis, implementation, integration, configuration, and testing for ALM overseen applications.
Identify and write knowledge base articles for applications.
Identify opportunities to mature and improve Application Lifecycle Management.
Perform additional projects as requested.

Job description

Report to the Manager, Architecture & Applications
Work with Corporate IT teams, IT Business Partners, App Excellence team members, and business users to identify and analyze business processes, user requirements, and system requirements
Complete the Application Lifecycle Management checklist and ensure applications are compliant
Complete business criticality scorecards with the business
Maintain data quality for the catalogue of all applications
Ensure Service Desk, Corporate Services, Security Operations, adjacent teams, and others have accurate application information
Identify duplicate application functionality and work with application users and the ARB to determine which applications should be decommissioned
Support users in migrating from applications queued for decommission to supported tools
Follow the application decommission process once tools have no users
Contribute to business analysis, implementation, integration, configuration, and testing for applications under ALM oversight
Identify and write knowledge base articles for applications
