Job summary

MNP is actively seeking a Co-op Accounting Technician for our Assurance & Accounting group in Stratford, PE. The role focuses on helping with compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements, with opportunities to support month-end close and government filings.

Ideal candidates hold an accounting certificate or commerce/business degree and have 0–2 years of related experience, including familiarity with T4s/T5s and tax work. On-site role with potential travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Accounting and finance knowledge; entry level to 2 years of related accounting experience is fine.
• Experience preparing T4s and T5s; knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes; experience with accounting and tax software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist with compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements.
• Prepare and maintain government remittances/filings, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable and payroll transactions.
• Set-up client files, assist with the completion of budgets and complete administrative planning.
• Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process; reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany and POS/system uploads.
• Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss resolutions with managers or engagement partners.
• Communicate with the government regarding information requests, assessments and installments.
• Work collaboratively with the client engagement team.
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.

Education

Accounting certificate or bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is considered an asset)
