Job summary

MNP LLP in Canada seeks a Co-op Accounting Technician for an 8-month term beginning January 2027 through August 2027, based in Melfort, SK. You will assist with accounting tasks across assurance and accounting engagements, gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment.

This entry-level co-op offers exposure to government filings, ledgers, month-end close, and collaboration with managers and engagement partners.

Qualifications

• Pursuing accounting certificate or bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting/finance major is asset).
• Entry level to 2 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with T4s and T5s or knowledge of personal and corporate tax is an asset.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements.
• Prepare and maintain government remittances/filings, AR, expenses, AR/AP and payroll transactions.
• Set-up client files, assist with budgets and administrative planning.
• Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process.
• Reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank, prepaid expenses, AR, AP, accrued liabilities, intercompany and POS uploads.
• Identify issues, investigate discrepancies and discuss resolutions with managers or partners.
• Communicate with government regarding information requests, assessments and installments.
• Work collaboratively with the client engagement team.
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.

Skills and Experience

• Working torwards an accounting certificate or bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is considered an asset)
• Entry level to 2 years of relevant accounting experience
• Experience preparing T4s and T5s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferred
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes is considered an asset
• Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset
