The Manager Contract Manufacturing will be responsible for managing key relationships, exploring industry capabilities, leading start-up and innovation processes, and supporting ongoing relationships with Contract Manufacturers for High Liner Foods.
The ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen, adaptability to changing situations, the ability to build internal and external relationships, understanding of product development and operational best practices in the food industry, and the ability to influence, guide, and engage stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Negotiate and ensure compliance with Contract Manufacturing contracts, including cost reduction, capacity management, formulation controls, auditing, compliance, financial requirements, and other contractual aspects.
- Lead innovation purchasing strategies aligned with product development and corporate initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce costs.
- Understand should-cost and cost drivers, including short- and long-term impacts.
- Build and strengthen cross-functional relationships with suppliers and internal process partners to foster trust.
- Manage the Contract Manufacturing elements within the internal Stage Gate process, ensuring project timelines, costs, and specifications are met.
- Establish and monitor performance metrics for supplier performance, quality, order fulfillment, and financial performance, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with Legal on contract creation and management, and with audit teams to manage risks along the supply chain.
- Manage, mentor, and collaborate with a diverse team of professionals.
- Ensure supplier compliance with High Liner Foods Supplier Code of Conduct.
- Support daily tactical activities like inventory management, quality improvements, and supply chain functions.
- Analyze manufacturing best practices and encourage their implementation among suppliers.
- Identify operational savings at supplier facilities, track savings, and ensure initiatives meet profit and business objectives.
- Develop and improve Contract Manufacturing Management Practices.
- Perform market analysis, leverage benchmarks, and utilize supplier segmentation and trend analysis.
- Represent Contract Manufacturing in various company-wide initiatives.
Qualifications
- University degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in food manufacturing and contract manufacturing, including operations, engineering, purchasing, strategic sourcing, or quality assurance, preferably in a strategic role.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and supply markets for frozen and ready-to-eat products, ingredients, packaging, and commodities.
- Experience in all aspects of contract manufacturing, from ideation to business planning.
- Knowledge of quality management principles, continuous improvement methodologies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Proven track record managing third-party partners.
- Strong procurement knowledge, including negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
- Leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and identify process improvements.
