Position overview
We are seeking a Co-Executive Director to join our leadership team and work hand-in-hand with the Executive Director. This role is designed as a second-in-command position, with delegated authority over specific domains while contributing to national strategy. The Co-Executive Director will lead Welfare Avenue’s Ontario Division and play a key role in supporting national marketing / communications & HR efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Planning: Collaborate with the Executive Director on national strategy, growth, and organizational priorities.
- Ontario Division Oversight: Recruit and lead Ontario-based leaders and volunteers; ensure alignment with mission and national goals; develop partnerships with universities, student associations, grassroots groups, and local organizations.
- Marketing & Outreach (National Support): Contribute to national marketing campaigns and communications strategy; support brand-building and awareness across social and digital channels; identify ways to engage new audiences and expand donor / partner reach.
- Partnerships & External Relations: Leverage networks to establish relationships with corporate, community, and student partners; represent Welfare Avenue at events and external meetings; collaborate on fundraising initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (completed within the past 5 years) in Business, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of leadership experience, ideally in nonprofits, student groups, or entrepreneurial projects.
- Proven entrepreneurial mindset: experience launching or scaling initiatives.
- Strong leadership and team-management skills with ability to motivate and inspire volunteers.
- Experience in marketing, communications, or operational management (preferred).
- Established professional and/or student network in Ontario; ability to leverage relationships for impact.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Authentic, die-hard passion for poverty reduction, inclusion, and community building.
- Availability to commit 8–13 hours per week consistently.
- Willingness to commit 3–5 years to this role.
