Job description
We are seeking an experienced self-motivated CNC machinist with a strong mechanical aptitude. Our ideal candidate has reliable transportation and will have impeccable attendance. The role of a CNC Machinist will perform a variety of different tasks with little to no supervision. Being able to work independently and managing your time to stay efficient is a must. Setting up CNC machining centers and doing minor edits to G and M code should come naturally and will be expected to do this with ease on 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC centers. (this is required, if you are unfamiliar or a novice at these things, please see our CNC Operator posting) Most of all machining done will be done on a variety of different plastics. This machine shop is specifically for the plastics industry and rarely do we machine metallic parts. Our new CNC Machinist should have at least their own hand tools and measuring tools.

Experience/Education desired:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A certificate or diploma in engineering or a relevant discipline is a plus.
  • 5-8 years CNC Mill and Lathe experience.
  • 3+ years Programming experience.
  • Mazak Mazatrol and/or SmoothAi experience.
  • FeatureCam Software or similar experience.
Responsibilities, Requirements, Functions of CNC Machinist:
  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Set up, operate, edit, and program CNC machines and machining centers.
  • Set up and operate Manual Mills and Lathes.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and accessories.
  • Create fixtures as needed.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, depth, and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control to obtain optimum performance for the selected material to be machined.
  • Operate and understand Haas and Mazak/Fanuc Machines.
  • Proof programs & understand G and M code programs and make changes as needed.
  • Perform machine maintenance when required.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Familiar with Multi-axis and live tooling machining centers.
  • Capable of working within tight tolerances (+/- .001).
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Be Drug-Free.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands/fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands & arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; & stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, & the ability to focus. Safety glasses or side shields for prescription glasses are mandatory.
