Job description

We are looking for a CNC Machinist for our Vertical Turning Center with custom machining experience. Someone who is mechanically inclined, enjoys working with their hands, self-motivated, attentive to detail, and takes pride in doing a good job. This position is for afternoon shift 2:30pm-11:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Liaise with Production Manager to ensure safety, quality and production targets are met.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, procedures to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
  • Preventative Maintenance of machines.
  • Communicate with staff, managers, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Liaise with management to identify areas of inefficiency.
  • Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with all provincial and federal laws, the Company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
  • Verify dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, Vernier’s, calipers, height gauges or other specialized measuring instruments.
  • Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor.
  • Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Requirements:
  • Physical:
  • Sitting, Standing, and Walking.
  • Carrying, Stooping, Lifting and Reaching.
  • Lifting Requirements: Up to 40 pounds.
  • Mental
  • Mathematical: Advanced Math, including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Language: The use of the English language, both Oral and Written.
  • Requires daily communication with multiple departments to insure maximum efficiency.
  • Self-Starter.
Education & Skills:
  • Graduate from a technical school or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Metrology.
  • Can select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes.
  • Keeps workstation clean and organized.
  • Follows all established safety procedures and practices.
  • Experience with CNC Programming is a must.
  • Use of Jib crane.
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years CNC Machining.
Working Conditions:
  • Schedule: Afternoon shift 2:30pm to 11pm ($2 shift premium).
  • Overtime as required.
  • Shop Floor Environment.
