Job summary

You will program and set tools, prepare fixtures, and machine precision components while adhering to safety protocols. The role requires 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, a College Diploma with Red Seal, and advanced knowledge in handling precision tools. Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years experience in a similar role.
• Intermediate ability to set up, adjust and operate conventional machine tools or entry-level CNC operator.
• Advanced knowledge of relevant safety and risk assessment processes.

Responsibilities

• Program, set tools, and prepare fixtures and jigs for machining precision components.
• Deliver acceptable parts in the time allowed according to manufacturing instructions.
• Support apprentices and CNC operators in setup and operation of equipment.
• Contribute to Tool Box talks and communications regarding safety and improvements.

About the Role

As a CNC Machinist you will program, using drawing files and packaged conversion software, set tools, prepare fixtures and jigs and machine precision components/parts that meet the engineered drawings in the time allotted by the Manufacturing Process Instruction, while observing Risk Assessment requirements as they apply to each operation or machine.

You will report to the Shop Supervisor and be located onsite at our facility in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

Main Responsibilities

• Follow all Risk Assessment requirements for the equipment being used.
• Deliver acceptable parts in the time allowed.
• Support apprentices and CNC Operators in set up and operation of equipment.
• Offer advice to design group when requested.
• Recommend/adapt improvements in tools, processes and procedures.
• Manage part programme files complete with back up.
• Contribute to Tool Box talks and other communications.
