Description:
The Resident Care Aide provides personal care, support, and assistance to residents in a long-term care, assisted living, or hospital setting. The role focuses on promoting comfort, dignity, and quality of life while supporting residents with daily living activities in accordance with established care plans and organizational policies.Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.Support mobility, including transfers, ambulation, and use of mobility aids.Observe, report, and document changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to nursing staff.Assist with therapeutic and recreational activities to promote engagement and well-being.Provide emotional support, companionship, and respectful communication to residents and families.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment.Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols.Follow care plans and ensure residents’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality are respected at all times.Collaborate with nurses, care staff, and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care.
Requirements:
Completion of a recognized Resident Care Aide / Health Care Assistant program.Registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate provincial healthcare registry (e.g., BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry).Current CPR/First Aid certification (as required).Knowledge of safe body mechanics and patient handling techniques.Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
