Job summary

Bria Communities LP is hiring a Residential Care Aide to support residents with daily living activities and mobility. You will assist with meals, monitor health and report changes to the nursing staff, and help maintain a tidy, safe living environment.

The role requires a Residential Care Aide Certificate and active BC Care Aide Registry status. Fluency in English, physical fitness, and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Residential Care Aide Certificate.
• Registration in good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry is required.
• Food Safe & WHMIS certificates are assets.
• First Aid knowledge is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including hygiene and mobility.
• Assist with meal distribution and monitor nutritional needs and preferences.
• Observe health changes and report to nursing staff promptly.
• Maintain clean living areas and ensure safe use/storage of equipment.
• Support residents' social, recreational, and spiritual activities and outings.
• Attend meetings and adhere to confidentiality and safety policies.

Job description

Education & Experience

• Residential Care Aide Certificate from a reputable/accredited school required
• Preferred minimum 2 years of long-term care or assisted living experience
• Must be registered in good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry (proof required)
• Food Safe & WHMIS Certificates an asset
• Basic First Aid recommended

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist residents with all activities of daily living, including hygiene, dressing, mobility, and the use of proper lifting techniques for safety.
2. Manage meal distribution and feeding while monitoring appetites and preferences to ensure individual nutritional needs are met.
3. Monitor residents’ physical and cognitive health, promptly reporting any changes, concerns, or emergencies to the nursing staff.
4. Maintain clean living areas, follow emergency protocols, and ensure all medical equipment and supplies are used safely and stored correctly.
5. Support residents’ well-being by facilitating participation in social, recreational, and spiritual activities, including excursions and exercises.
6. Attend multidisciplinary meetings, participate in continuing education, and strictly adhere to facility policies regarding confidentiality and safety

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must have the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relations by displaying tact, courtesy and patience with residents, guests, volunteers and employees.
• Fluent in written and oral English
• Physically and mentally able to carry out the duties of the position under minimum supervision
• Ability to organize workload efficiently
• Ability to safely operate mechanical lifts and other related equipment
