Job Title: CNA - Adult Day Health Care
$18.54 - $21.54 - Based on experience
MAIN FUNCTION:
Assist registrants with all activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, nail care, toileting, and other needs. Provide assistance in a broad program of activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work more than eight hours per day or more than forty hours per week as needed.
- Receive verbal assignments from the Adult Day Health Care Director or Nurse and plan the day accordingly.
- Post registrant rehabilitation schedules and ensure appointments are kept.
- Check vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse) as directed, document findings, and notify the nurse of any unusual results.
- Perform duties such as answering phones, assisting visitors and volunteers, and other tasks assigned by the Nurse/Director.
- Follow policies and procedures provided by the Adult Day Health Care Director.
- Provide personal services such as reading, socializing, and assisting with activities.
- Observe registrant behavior and report changes to the nurse.
- Assist with meals, including serving and cleanup.
- Help registrants prepare for appointments and social events, ensuring attendance and documenting.
- Manage supplies and equipment, maintaining infection control procedures.
- Assist incontinent registrants with hygiene, changing clothing, peri-care, and C-tube care as ordered.
- Supervise and assist during meals, ensuring proper intake.
- Maintain confidentiality of all registrant information.
- Attend at least six hours of in-service education every six months to maintain CNA certification.
- Clean shower and tub after each use following infection control policies.
- Assist with emergencies and agitated registrants as directed.
- Contribute to a comprehensive activity program tailored to each registrant's needs.
- Maintain records of work performed and registrant participation.
- Assist with transferring and ambulation as needed.
- Perform other duties as directed by the program director or nurse in charge.
- Other related duties as necessary or directed by supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of principles and techniques for caring for the disabled, elderly, and impaired adults.
- Experience in assisting activities staff and leading activities preferred.
- Skill in using equipment such as projectors, video and record players preferred.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Current New York State Nurse certification required.
- CPR certification required.
- Previous experience preferred; on-the-job training provided.
- Sense of responsibility, integrity, and understanding required.
- Sincere desire to work with disabled and elderly populations.
- Good mental and physical health required.
- Friendly, tactful, and able to remain calm in emergencies.
- Knowledge of registrant rights.
