Brief Position Summary

The Account Executive's primary goal is to organically generate sales by nurturing existing customer relationships and prospecting for new customers. The role involves providing world-class account management, acting as a liaison between the company and customers. The ideal candidate should have proven strategic sales strategies and a track record of success in prospecting, managing, and closing sales. The position requires working collaboratively to focus on acquisition, development, retention, and management of strategic clients within designated territories.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Penetrate accounts at both functional and executive levels, collaborating with district leaders and industry experts to design solutions for current and future customer needs.
  • Provide technical and sales expertise across territories when needed.
  • Participate in MSC Collaboration projects and cross-selling activities.
  • Serve as a role model for sales associates, demonstrating MSC values and achieving financial targets.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure operational efficiency and high service levels, emphasizing strong customer service and follow-up.
  • Achieve sales plans and account retention targets.
  • Identify and grow opportunities within the district through collaboration with strategic and national accounts, sales teams, and management.
  • Communicate initiatives effectively across multiple contacts within customer accounts.
  • Maximize productivity using multiple MSC solution channels.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers and deliver key sales strategies, proactively addressing customer needs.
  • Leverage in-depth product knowledge to acquire new customers and expand sales within existing accounts.
  • Deliver face-to-face sales presentations to prospective clients, demonstrating product and service knowledge, aiming to exceed sales targets.
  • Stay informed about competitors and emerging technologies to position MSC effectively in the marketplace.
  • Develop territory strategies, including identifying partnerships and planning development activities.
  • Research and generate new leads through prospecting activities like cold calling, canvassing, referrals, and partnerships.
  • Retain customers by providing a superior experience and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate sales records and prepare reports as required.
  • Implement major company programs and initiatives successfully.
  • Conduct prospect/customer surveys, set up new customer locations, and process orders using wireless technology.
  • Develop pricing strategies for non-contract customers in line with company policies.
  • Submit reports timely and accurately as required by management.
  • Promote the MSC culture and participate in special projects as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to four-year college degree preferred.
  • At least 3+ years of outside sales/service experience preferred.
  • Industry experience of 4 years preferred.
  • Experience in account retention and penetration with proven sales success preferred.

  • Technical product knowledge relevant to markets served.
  • Ability to interpret technical material and analyze information.

Other Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to drive several hours daily within designated territory.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, and stretching.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Compensation starting at $67,000 - $100,000 depending on experience.

The salary range is based on industry standards and market conditions. Actual compensation depends on experience, education, and peer pay equity. The company reserves the right to modify this range as needed.
