Position Summary

As a Cloud Ops Administrator you will be responsible for configuring, monitoring, managing the cloud instances of CBN solutions for our Bahamian government customers. In this position you will manage and provide ongoing support to ensure they remain highly available, reliable, and secure.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Administration:
    • Install, configure, and maintain services, instance nodes, networks, and other IT infrastructure components. Leverage automation tools to enhance outcomes.
  • Performance Monitoring and Tuning:
    • Monitor system and database instances performance, identify issues, and optimize performance.
  • Security Management:
    • Implement and manage security measures to protect systems and databases instances from unauthorized access and threats.
  • Backup and Recovery:
    • Develop and implement backup and recovery plans to ensure services and instances are ready and available 24/7 and on demand.
  • Troubleshooting and Support:
    • Provide technical support for system and instances in test and production environments.
  • Documentation:
    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system and database configurations, changes, processes, and procedures.
  • Various other Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology (or a related field) or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.

Certifications:

  • CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Associate certification or similar are assets.

Knowledge:

  • System administration principles, AWS or Azure development, network protocols, security best practices, Dev OPS experience is a Plus.

Experience:

  • 4-7 years of experience in system administration with cloud operations, Kubernetes, Helm, either AKS or EKS.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Competencies:

  • Organizational skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to identifying and solving issues.

Technical Environment

  • Operating Systems: Linux, Windows Server, cloud instances.
  • Hardware: Servers, Storage (SAN/NAS), Switches, Routers, VLAN
  • Networking: Firewalls, VPN, VLANs
  • Software: Apache, Tomcat
  • Virtualization: VMware, JVM
  • Containerization/Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
  • Deployment/Configuration: Puppet, Terraform, Ansible, Bicep, Helmchart
  • SQL and Scripting: SQL, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ruby
  • Security: Active Directory, Kerberos, LDAP, TLS, Bitlocker, LUKS
  • Tools: Git, OpenSSL, tcpdump, Wireshark, PowerCLI, Sysinternals Suite, BIRT

Mandatory Requirements

  • Language(s): Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • On-call: Ability to work on-call rotation (1 day on/4 days oof)
  • Travel: Ability to travel internationally (passport required) approx. 2-6 weeks/year
