Cloud Specialist

Position Description:

Location: Montreal, Ottawa, Saguenay, Toronto
Bilingual: French and English is a big asset
Security clearance: Secret clearance- or the ability to obtain Secret clearance.

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our cloud Operations team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our clients' cloud infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure the availability, security, and performance of our cloud-based systems.

The Cloud Specialist delivers cloud services across multiple clients. With a focus on scalability, availability, automation, performance, and security, you will work with client and internal teams to perform myriad activities related to Infrastructure as a Service as well as cloud-native services. Working with client and internal teams, you will contribute to developing and delivering cloud-native solutions, leveraging your expertise in GCP, AWS, Azure, Terraform, scripting, coding, DevOps, CI/CD pipeline, Kubernetes, and other cloud technologies.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

1. Manage cloud infrastructure components, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and security resources.
2. Provide expertise and leadership regarding Cloud for both infrastructure and applications in Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud.
3. Monitor and optimize the performance of Cloud services, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal system functionality.
4. Perform regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and ensure business continuity for critical applications and data.
5. Implement and maintain security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance standards.
6. Automate routine operational tasks using scripting and configuration management tools.
7. Solve exciting technical challenges by analyzing, troubleshooting, and designing vital services, platforms, and infrastructure while always thinking about reliability, scalability, resilience, security, and performance.
8. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of the production services you collaborate with.
9. Help build a Site Reliability Engineering culture across the organization by sharing your best practices, approaches, documentation, and code with other engineering teams.
10. Document your system knowledge as you acquire it over time, create runbooks, and ensure critical system information is readily available to those who need it.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

1. Federal government SECRET clearance- have or can obtain.
2. Bilingualism (French/English) is a major asset.
3. Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a cloud specialist, with a focus on Azure, AWS, and GCP cloud services.
4. Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar tools.
5. Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Go, etc.) and scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
6. Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, GCP Solutions Architect, etc.) are highly desirable.
7. Strong knowledge of Cloud services, including VMs, networking, storage, databases, and security.
8. Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform) is a plus.
9. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
10. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
11. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position due to the nature of the role requiring interaction with national and global clients.
