We are hiring a Cloud Solutions Architect in our Alliances team to help our major partners (like Intel, Nvidia, Google, Dell, HP, Accenture, Tata, and others) understand and adopt our open source platform for their own use and for their customers.

Our global field engineering team applies expert insights to real-world customer problems, enabling enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps, and related technologies. We are experts across the open source stack, from kernel to desktop, cloud to edge. We are also interested in business challenges—building reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions—and learning to speak the language of our customers and their industries.

We assist global companies in adopting public and private cloud infrastructure, cloud-native operations, and open source applications. For this team, we seek several Alliances Engineers to support OEMs (hardware manufacturers), GSIs (global system integrators), ISVs (independent software vendors), channel partners, and public cloud alliance partners. You will support various alliances and partners in adopting our products and technologies, and help business leaders define joint go-to-market strategies from a technical perspective.

We prioritize doing what’s best for our partners and customers, regardless of our company interests, trusting our engineers to uphold this standard.

Location: This is a home-based role, open worldwide.

What your day will look like:

• Understand Ubuntu, Linux, networking, and services in real-world environments
• Architect cloud infrastructure solutions like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark, either on-premises or in public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Architect and integrate open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra, and NGINX
• Assist partners in offering and architecting joint solutions using Canonical's technologies on public clouds and data centers
• Design and publish joint Reference Architectures and perform technical validations with partners
• Conduct onboarding sessions and workshops to promote Canonical products and solutions

What we are looking for in you:

• Extensive experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred), Kubernetes, Ceph, and software automation
• Experience designing and implementing solutions on public or private clouds
• Understanding of Python and Bash, troubleshooting skills
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• High motivation, ability to multitask and reliably follow up on commitments
• Interest in customer engagement, including pitching, demonstrations, and understanding customer environments
• Interest in new technologies like LXD, Juju, and Snaps
• Willingness to travel globally up to 30%
• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field
