Job description

Are you ready to create the future of 5G / 6G?

At 5G Cloud RAN Distributed Unit's baseband team, our main task is to systemize and implement baseband algorithms in our vDU product that would keep Ericsson the front-runner in the market. 5G Physical Layer is the building foundation of 5G RAN. It implements flexible multi-carrier waveforms (OFDMA), advanced multi-antenna solutions, and channel coding schemes for a wide range of services, deployments, and frequencies envisioned in 3GPP. We develop Physical Layer features implemented over COTS HW with different HW accelerator solutions (i.e Intel, Nvidia GPU) for PHY level digital processing and on the cloud, i.e AWS, Azure, Google cloud.

In meanwhile, 6G is waving hands to us, we are also preparing to be actively engaged in next generation technology for future evolvement.

We are now looking for an L1 Software Developer that will join our excellent team in Ottawa and work with the 5G RAN L1 SW including production code to be deployed on x86 architecture, test infrastructure and pipeline and troubleshooting, and much, much more!

This opportunity is prepared for whoever has passion to become processional expertise on physical layers, to contribute on the next generation evolve, and interested on cloud native deployment regardless of your existing experience in this area;

What you will do

  • Be actively engaged in implementation of NR Physical Layer functions running on the Virtual DU side or on UE side, in particular :
  • Be able to deliver scalability, resilience and performance by taking full advantage of the evolving architecture and services inherent to a Cloud Native Platform.
  • Strive for delivery of product and test code that takes advantages of a DevOps infrastructure.
  • Foster systematization and implementation that enable rapid feature parity in a Stand Alone and Hybrid network environment.

You will bring

  • MSc degree in Electrical engineering or Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Strong competence in C / C++ is a must.
  • Demonstrated ability in embedded software design.
  • Solid understanding of LTE & NR 3GPP specifications, especially in the area of the Physical Layer is a plus.
  • Consistent track record to deliver complex software solutions, on-time and with quality.
  • Ability to work in international, agile and multi-site teams both collaboratively and autonomously.
  • Care about diversity and inclusion, encourage speak-up environments, come with a strong can-do attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, time management, and multitasking skills.

Additional Qualifications :

  • Cloud Native core design principles – microservices, containers, pods, master / worker nodes.
  • Developing through the Cloud Native Development Pipeline and software content management principles and tools – CI / CD (DevOps), git, Gerrit, GitHub, Jenkins, Spinnaker
  • AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience with Nvidia tool chain, CUDA, Kernel design, will be a plus
