Job summary

TMC Canada seeks a seasoned Java developer within Research Technology in Montreal to design and build cloud-native microservices. You’ll work in an agile team using Spring Boot, Web Services, and modern front-end frameworks to deliver robust enterprise solutions.

The role emphasizes AI-enabled development, responsible AI practices, and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders. You’ll apply best practices, design patterns, and software craftsmanship to create scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Java: Strong hands-on experience with Java.
• Spring Web Services and Apache CXF framework knowledge.
• Spring Framework and Spring Boot for enterprise development.
• JUnit and Test-Driven Development experience.
• PostgreSQL: relational DB concepts, SQL optimization, data modeling.
• NoSQL (MongoDB): CRUD operations and concepts.
• AI: Generative AI concepts, LLMs, AI-assisted development.
• Experience with AI coding assistants to boost productivity.
• Prompt engineering and AI interaction techniques.
• AI patterns like Retrieval-Augmented Generation and vector databases.
• Integrating apps with AI services like OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or similar.
• Knowledge of AI governance and secure data handling.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, CI/CD tools, Angular/Ext JS, and related DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Work on multiple initiatives within Research Technology.
• Develop core Java-based solutions using Spring Web Services, CXF, and Spring Boot.
• Handle databases with PostgreSQL and MongoDB, optimizing queries.
• Explore AI and intelligent development, including LLMs and AI service integrations.
• Apply responsible AI practices and secure enterprise data handling.
