Job summary

University of British Columbia seeks a Project Manager – CIC to lead multiple concurrent cloud innovation projects, including AI initiatives and AWS-based solutions. You will oversee scope, planning, resources and delivery, mentoring developers, architects and student staff within the CIC.

You will coordinate with sponsors, technical leads and executives, ensuring quality and timely delivery of prototypes and open-source materials in accordance with CIC practices.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of five years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads concurrent cloud innovation projects, including complex AI initiatives, from scoping to closure.
• Defines requirements, success criteria, scope and deliverables with sponsors and leads.
• Develops project plans, schedules and resource requirements; assembles teams and assigns responsibilities.
• Evaluates scope changes, resolves dependencies and escalates as needed.
• Tracks progress, risks and issues; leads sponsor reviews and project closeout.
• Provides project direction to developers and specialists delivering AWS-based solutions.
• Translates architectural recommendations into delivery plans and manages interdependencies.
• Establishes quality objectives and ensures compliance reviews are integrated.
• Manages validation, testing, demonstrations and handover to sponsors.
• Mentors student and junior staff and coordinates learning opportunities.
