Job Description:

We are seeking a hands-on FinOps Product Manager and FinOps enthusiast who can bridge business practicality and technical data expertise. You will help clients harness the power of their data and implement best practices for FinOps/cloud optimization by collaborating closely with applications & engineering teams. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment with various internal teams to drive large-scale cloud adoption and will be a key member of the Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCOE).

Your responsibilities include supporting cloud cost management and governance across the enterprise by building and maintaining business intelligence dashboards, integrating cloud FinOps solutions via APIs, developing data pipelines, partnering with engineering teams on cost-optimized solutions and databases for reporting and analysis across cloud vendors, enabling cloud consumption tracking, fostering a cost-conscious culture, maximizing discounts, and supporting budgeting and migration business cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze cloud data to identify cost-saving opportunities and create optimization recommendations; review these with clients.
  • Monitor and report on cloud usage against budgets and forecasts, exploring spend trends.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and alerts to track spending, usage trends, and potential cost optimizations.
  • Partner with engineering teams to understand cloud business processes and cost drivers.
  • Promote cloud financial transparency through reports using Power BI, QuickSight, Tableau, and Apptio Cloudability.
  • Assist in implementing, maintaining, and governing the FinOps service as needed.
  • Work with technical teams to ensure proper tagging and allocation of cloud resources for accurate cost tracking.
  • Monitor cloud consumption to detect anomalies and spikes, escalating issues as needed.
  • Develop data pipelines, visualizations, and enterprise dashboards to centralize cloud consumption data.
  • Collaborate on IT Total Cost of Ownership and financial transparency initiatives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance IT finance efficiency and reporting value.
  • Respond to financial inquiries by analyzing and summarizing data for IT leaders.
  • Own analysis and recommendations based on cloud consumption and cost data from CSP sources and internal databases.
  • Monitor cloud resource efficiency, report violations, and collaborate on improvements.
  • Participate in deep analysis of capacity commitments to optimize spend.
  • Create cost and usage reports with recommendations for cost reduction and performance improvements.
  • Support monthly cloud consumption reporting for the IT finance team.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to cost center owners for optimizing cloud spend.
  • Ensure tagging compliance and data feed availability for dashboards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, finance, or equivalent; or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience with FinOps and TBM tools like Cloudability, Apptio, QuickSight, CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing IT or finance functions.
  • Experience with financial controls: forecasting, budgeting, expense trending.
  • 1-2 years of experience with cloud financial tools like Apptio Cloudability.
  • 3-5 years developing data and analytics products via the cloud, including Amazon QuickSight.
  • Ability to create data visualizations using Power BI, scripting in Python, BASH, SQL, R, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal, consultative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience bridging finance and technology roles.
  • Experience with APIs, automation, and fostering an API-first culture.
  • Experience facilitating budget meetings and aligning spend with budgets.
  • Knowledge of FinOps principles, cloud frameworks, and cloud cost management on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
