Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in cloud engineering roles, especially with GCP.
  • Strong automation skills and experience with IaC and CI/CD tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.

As a Cloud Engineer, you will be working closely with the platform engineering team to design, build, and maintain cloud platforms. You will be at the forefront of managing and optimizing our cloud operations for the cloud platforms and services. If you’re passionate about cutting-edge technologies, cloud-native solutions, and driving innovation, this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of digital banking. You will modernize both development practices and tools for the existing and new platform products. You have a proven record of automating complex systems based on cloud resources and have strong experience in implementing highly available solutions. You will enhance the team’s development process and automated testing practices. When required, you are expected to be a part of after-hours project deployments in the evenings or weekends.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
  1. Participate in design discussions focused on scalability, design, and implementation best practices.
  2. Ensure software, programs, and applications are developed and/or configured to meet high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements.
  3. Participate in planning, retrospective sessions, attending stand-ups, etc.
  4. Support application teams on the use of cloud platform including providing guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations.
  5. Handle Level 3 support responsibilities.
  6. Design and manage Cloud Services - Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) & Platform as a Service (PaaS).
  7. Thrive on the detailed design & deployment of cloud services; the same in the design & implementation of automated delivery pipelines for the cloud services.
  8. Work with engineers and architects on breaking down, scoping, and estimating tasks.
  9. Provide Level 3 support for developed Cloud Services.
  10. Develop & document operational procedures for service operations teams.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
  1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in cloud, software or other related engineering roles with Google Cloud Platform.
  2. Proven experience in cloud development in Google GCP. Microsoft Azure is a benefit.
  3. 3+ years in Compute (Linux Virtual Machines, Disks, VM Manager, GCVE), Databases (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB).
  4. Experience with Storage Services (Persistent Disks, Backup and DR Service, Cloud Storage).
  5. Experience in Data Analytics (BigQuery, Cloud Billing).
  6. 1+ years of experience with development languages (Go, Python, etc.).
  7. 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience in implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) delivery pipelines e.g. HashiCorp’s Terraform.
  8. 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) Tools (e.g., Git plus Azure DevOps and/or Jenkins and/or GitHub Enterprise) for maintaining pipelines.
  9. 1+ years of hands-on technical working experience in the use of Configuration Management & Automation tools (e.g., Saltstack, Puppet, Ansible, Chef).
  10. 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience with Bash and/or PowerShell to develop automation & deployment utilities.
  11. Enthusiasm for cloud transformation and cloud platform/components/services development.
  12. Self-sufficient, works under the supervision of a more senior engineer.
  13. Strong communication skills, both written and spoken; of specific importance is strong communication to a technical audience.
  14. Attention to details, high standards for quality.
  15. Experience writing and maintaining related documentation.
  16. Experience within Canadian financial institutions is a benefit.
  17. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
