Job description

The primary purpose of the Cloud Engineer role is to design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions that meet the technical requirements of the organization. This role is crucial in ensuring that the cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable, and cost-effective. The Cloud Engineer will work closely with IT Delivery Leaders, developers, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into robust cloud solutions.

This includes the creation and deployment of cloud resources, such as virtual servers, storage systems, networks, and databases, as well as the automation of cloud environment provisioning and configuration using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for maintaining high availability, performance, and security of cloud environments. This involves continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of cloud resources. Additionally, the Cloud Engineer will support cloud upgrade and migration projects, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption to business operations. The role also includes documenting cloud implementation projects and collaborating with other IT team members to develop and maintain best practices for cloud operations.

By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Cloud Engineer plays a vital role in enhancing the organization's digital capabilities, improving customer engagement, and driving innovation through the effective use of cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Implement Cloud Solutions: Create and deploy cloud resources, including virtual servers, storage systems, networks, and databases.
  • Ensure Security and Performance: Develop cloud solutions that are secure, performant, and cost-optimized.
  • Manage and Monitor Cloud Environments: Maintain high availability, performance, and security of cloud environments.
  • Automate Cloud Provisioning: Use tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate the provisioning and configuration of cloud environments.
  • Support Cloud Upgrades and Migrations: Assist in cloud upgrade and migration projects as needed.
  • Document Cloud Implementations: Support documentation efforts for cloud implementation projects.
  • Collaborate with IT Team Members: Work with other IT team members to develop solutions and ensure the operation of cloud environments.
  • Track and Report Progress: Use Jira to track and report progress on tasks and projects.
  • Document Task Requirements and Completed Work: Clearly document task requirements and completed work.
  • All other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science / Engineering or Mathematics.
  • Cloud AI Platform Developer or Architect Certification.
  • At least 3 years of experience.
  • 3 years of experience in designing, developing and managing Cloud Solutions in AWS and Azure.
  • Proficient in using cloud technologies: Virtual Machines, EC2 instances, Blob Storages, S3 Buckets etc.
  • Good understanding on Operating Systems and containerization concepts and have past experience in configuring containerized environments.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
  • Experience with Cloud Database management.
  • Experience in setting up cloud environment with security best practices.
  • Proficient with scripting and any Dev/Ops tools.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with all members of the team.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships within Honda North America as well as all other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; simplifies complex issues.
  • Effective verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Works well independently and in teams.
  • Constant learner, focused on improvement and innovation.
  • Actively shares knowledge and best practices.
  • Enthusiastic about new technology and self-learning.
  • Develop, establish and maintain good working relationship with Honda North America suppliers, partners, consultants, stakeholders and other network contacts.
