Join Team CARFAX as a Cloud Engineer

We believe in the power of teamwork and in-person interactions to foster collaboration and success. This position requires working 2 days per week in our London, ON office, subject to future business needs.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain a robust cloud architecture to support development teams in a dynamic, agile environment.
  • Participate in design decisions, including researching and prototyping new technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with AWS engineers, cloud architects, support teams, and stakeholders.
  • Promote excellent Kubernetes and AWS platform design and quality.
  • Innovate and improve our applications and processes.
  • Continuously analyze and evaluate systems, products, and processes for potential improvements.
  • Communicate effectively across teams to identify pain points and opportunities for enhancements.
  • Educate business stakeholders and product teams on cloud tools and services.
What we’re looking for:
  • Experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, VPCs, Lambda, API Gateway).
  • Experience with Kubernetes (AWS EKS preferred).
  • Proficiency with AWS Console, CLI, and SDK.
  • Experience with Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation.
  • Experience migrating applications to AWS.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, Golang, or Python.
  • Broad technology skills covering Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps).
  • Operational experience with ownership of system uptime and quality.
  • Ability to document and teach others effectively.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud architecture and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of security and performance best practices for cloud environments.
  • Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins or GitLab.
  • A strong belief in automating processes wherever possible.
Preferred Experience:
  • Familiarity with Traefik, Gloo, or Ambassador (Envoy is a plus).
  • Experience with Istio service mesh.
  • Knowledge of Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Experience with CloudFront.
  • Cloud development leveraging AWS services like Lambda, SQS, SNS, ECS, etc.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, including TDD and Pair Programming.

  • Communicate effectively and be vocal about ideas and feedback.
  • Be self-driven and quick to adapt to new technologies.
  • Exhibit technical flexibility and a willingness to learn continually.
