Overview

As a Cloud Architect, you will be at the forefront of our value-driven approach to delivering top-quality IT solutions. Your expertise will help build reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructures, enhancing effectiveness and efficiency across data streams and pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation, CI/CD, optimization, and configuration management. We seek a well-rounded professional with Azure experience who can seamlessly apply technical and communication skills to advance data solutions and drive strategic success.

Location: Across Canada, Across US (Hybrid) - Preference to SoCal

Status: Full-Time, Permanent

Responsibilities
  • Analyze the current state and identify/document gaps between the current state and business requirements
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business processes and refine business requirements
  • Contribute towards technical presales efforts, shaping cloud strategy and solution proposals
  • Define the future state solution architecture, ensuring it meets security, availability, and business needs
  • Develop and define future state data architecture and models aligned with business objectives
  • Outline high-level steps, plans, and resource requirements necessary to achieve the future state
  • Complete customer-required specifications for requirements, architecture, and design to secure solution approval from all stakeholders
  • Establish governance processes to ensure the effective adoption and maintenance of solutions
  • Develop and enforce best practices for consistent development, implementation, and maintenance of solutions
  • Lead and manage teams through the entire solution development and delivery lifecycle
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, providing updates on progress, challenges, and changes
  • Effectively manage and resolve issues that arise during the solution life cycle
  • Investigate and resolve complex challenges that block developer progression
  • Stay informed about the latest technology developments and maintain a "trusted advisor" role with stakeholders
  • Estimate software and service pricing related to solution design and implementation
  • Technical Communication: Capably explain technical projects and their business impact to management and non-technical stakeholders
  • Conduct assessments, identify bottlenecks and gaps in infrastructure, recommend improvements, and implement changes
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Formal education in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a Data Engineering or Data Architect role, demonstrating deep technical knowledge and leadership in data solutions
  • Practical experience with SQL, including writing statements, creating, and managing stored procedures, optimizing indexing, partitioning, distribution strategies, and implementing basic security measures
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in data modeling, demonstrating strong analytical and design capabilities
  • Hands-on expertise with Big Data and Data Warehouse technologies, including experience in optimizing data access for speed, reliability, and business-driven velocity
  • Proven track record in implementing and leading multiple cloud migration projects, displaying deep understanding of the associated challenges and best practices
  • Experience with various cloud deployment models, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and Hybrid environments
  • Intermediate to expert-level proficiency with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Power BI
  • Energetic and results-oriented, with a proven ability to leverage technology to meet business objectives, improve processes, and deliver efficiencies
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with a strong initiative to drive ongoing optimization and business improvements
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with onshore and offshore teams
Nice to Have
  • Previous experience in technical presales for Azure data solutions, able to articulate business value and build client trust
  • One or more Azure certifications (AZ-300/303/304, DP-200/201/203, or AZ-103/104) would be an asset
  • Proficiency in Python, R, Scala, Spark, or similar scripting languages
  • Experience with Azure networking or security
