Job description

The Team
The Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS), Prince George Outpatient Clinical team is an established, multidisciplinary group of dedicated professionals, including administrative staff, psychiatric social workers, community nurses, clinical psychologists, and psychiatrists. They are committed to supporting youth in the justice system, working compassionately to help adolescents overcome challenges and avoid further legal involvement through tailored support and treatment. Collaborating with the Regional Clinical Team, Youth Probation, Crown Council, Court Registries, and other local community agencies, this team brings their high level of expertise and passion to provide excellent clinical services and make a positive impact on the lives of young people and the broader community.

The Role
Under the direction of the Regional Office Administrator (ROA), this position is responsible for clerical support, reception and clinical record maintenance for Prince George Outpatient Clinic. This position also resolves routine problems or escalates potentially controversial situations.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school / Secondary School graduation (i.e. Dogwood, GED)
  • One (1) year related administrative support/secretarial experience in an office environment; OR, equivalent education or training (i.e. successful completion of a recognized legal, medical or office assistant certificate program) and work experience may be considered.
  • Experience/training in keyboarding, word processing, proofreading, electronic email and other standard computer based applications (i.e. MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Adobe Acrobat).

Preference may be given to the following:

  • Records management experience using an electronic case management system (i.e. CARIS, ICM, ARCS/ORCS/EDRMS etc.)
  • Word processing medico-legal documentation experience.
  • Experience with medical terminology (i.e. medico-legal, psychiatric and psychological).
  • Experience and/or the skills to cope with working near potentially aggressive, violent or otherwise unpredictable youth.
  • Experience with dictation/dicta-typing.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
