Job description

Client Service Workers (CSWs) play a valuable role in the Service Delivery Divisions service to British Columbians seeking income and disability assistance. Working closely with other CSWs and Employment and Assistance Workers CSWs provide important administrative and client service support working comfortably in numerous computer programs on a wide range of tasks in a diverse and busy client service environment.

The Role

The Client Service Worker is primarily responsible for responding to public inquiries relating to income and disability services and providing administrative support to their work unit.

Qualifications :

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (i.e GED).
  • Experience delivering a high standard of client service in a high volume environment (in-person via
  • virtual technologies or over the telephone).
  • Experience working with various computer applications including MS Word Outlook and Excel.
  • Experience providing services to clients experiencing poverty issues substance use or mental health issues.

Willingness statements :

  • Must be willing and able to display resilience in the face of adversity and demonstrate empathyinteracting with citizens.
  • Must be willing and able to use de-escalation techniques to manage some situations.

About this Position :

Applicants will be screened against basic eligibility criteria as well as education and experience requirements. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete online testing.

Candidates passing the online testing will be placed into an Applicant Inventory. Over the course of several months location selection invitations will be distributed to inventory members in stages. After responding to a location selection invitation applicants will schedule a virtual interview. Applicants only interview once with the resulting score applied to any locations in which they express interest.

Successful applicants will be placed on eligibility listsfor their selected locations. As vacancies arise over the course of 2025 / 2026 job offers will be made from the eligibility list in rank order until its expiry. All appointments to the BC Public Service require the satisfactory completion of Past Work Performance Checks. Being placed on an eligibility list does not guarantee a job offer.

Some positions may have flexible work options available subject to an approved telework agreement.
