Job summary

The Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing is seeking a Clinical Therapist to deliver short-term, solution-focused mental health, addiction and gender-based violence counselling to individuals, couples, youth, and families in North Bay. Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy, or a related clinically focused field; or a Bachelor of Social Work with eligibility for and active registration in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
• Registered and in good standing with a relevant Ontario regulatory body (OCSWSSW or CRPO).
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in mental health, addictions, or social services.
• Experience working with both adult and youth populations.
• Proven ability to utilize and interpret addiction assessment tools.
• Knowledge of brief therapy models, trauma-informed care, and concurrent disorders.
• Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppressive, client-directed, and culturally safe practices.
• Bilingualism (English/French) preferred; priority to bilingual candidates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic record systems.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Deliver psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families, and youth addressing mental health, trauma, and abuse.
• Provide addiction-focused counselling and support for concurrent disorders.
• Facilitate group counselling sessions and psychoeducational workshops.
• Apply trauma-informed, harm reduction, feminist, and culturally safe approaches.
• Manage crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions.
• Refer clients to community resources and advocate on their behalf.
• Other duties as assigned.
