About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Support Services & Community Programs, the SchoolsPlus Mental Health clinician provides services directly in the school community environment within the designated SchoolsPlus schools. The clinician is a member of a school-based multidisciplinary team and participates in the planning, development, provision, and evaluation of mental health services for the assigned population in designated school settings, focusing on early identification and intervention of mental health disorders for children and adolescents.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master’s degree in a clinical health-related discipline (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing, Occupational Therapy)
  • Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body
  • Two years’ related clinical experience required (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning)
  • Knowledge of DSM V for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders
  • Skills in providing individual and group evidence-informed therapies
  • Skills in collaborating with families in the care and recovery of individuals with mental illness and addiction
  • Knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment/intervention
  • Non-violent crisis intervention and Suicide Risk Assessment preferred
  • Awareness of community resources and programs
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • High level of written/oral/interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in multiple software applications
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience required. Candidates with less than two (2) years of experience may be considered for the selection process and will be placed on the Clinical Therapist (Developmental) scale if offered employment.

Hours
  • Long assignment, full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Travel to various assigned schools is required
  • Beginning ASAP for approximately 27 months; dates are approximate and subject to change
Compensation and Benefits

Clinical Therapist: $39.39 - $51.78 hourly
Clinical Therapist (Developmental): $35.13 - $44.35 hourly
