Job summary

Sunbeam Developmental Resource Centre in Kitchener, Ontario seeks a contract Clinical Therapist to join Brightside ABA Services. The role demands a flexible schedule with evenings and some weekends, based in Kitchener and travel across Waterloo Region.

Qualifications

• Degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis or related health profession with clinical experience.
• Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders and its functional impact.
• Familiar with provincial acts: Services and Supports to Promote Social Inclusion of Persons with DD Act, CYFSA, PHIPA.
• Experience with dual diagnosis is a plus.
• Experience working with groups and families.
• Strong consulting and oral/written communication skills.
• Experience using a consultative model in community settings.
• Experience in teaching/training.
• Emergency First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation for region-wide travel.

Sunbeam Developmental Resource Centre – Waterloo Region (SDRC) is a division of Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services.

The Sunbeam Developmental Resource Centre is the single point of access to developmental services for children in the Region of Waterloo. SDRC provides case management and clinical services to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders. SDRC also assists them and their caregivers in connecting with community services and supports. SDRC’s services are available to children and adults with developmental disabilities in Waterloo Region. (www.sdrc.ca)

Position Overview:

We are presently inviting applications for a contract Clinical Therapist. The successful candidate will be required to work flexible hours Monday – Friday; with a minimum of 2 evenings per week and some weekend hours. The successful candidate will be based out of our Kitchener location but required to travel throughout Waterloo Region.

As part of our Brightside ABA Services (https://brightsideabaservices.com/), the successful candidate will prepare comprehensive, behavioural/functional assessments and ABA-based intervention strategies. The work also involves a teaching/training function for families and agencies supporting these individuals in a variety of community settings. Work is performed under the direction and supervision of an Ontario Registered Behaviour Analyst (R.B.A.)

Qualifications:

• Degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis or related health profession supplemented by several years of broad-based clinical experience.
• Experience in working with Autism Spectrum Disorders and familiar with its impact on all aspects of functioning.
• Familiar with the Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Personal Health Information Act.
• Familiarity with the special challenges presented by Dual Diagnosis and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder is a definite asset.
• Experience working with groups and families.
• Excellent consulting and oral/written communication skills.
• Two years of experience using a consultative model in a community setting.
• Experience in teaching/training.
• Emergency First Aid and CPR required (or must be prepared to obtain).
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Validdriver’s license and reliable transportation are required for travel throughout the Region and possibly outside
