Job description

Reporting to the Manager of the Forensic Assessment Outpatient Service, the incumbent will be responsible for the provision and facilitation of individual and group clinical supervision of staff. Further, will assist staff in the management of clinical caseloads & therapy review and provide mentorship as it relates to best practice standards and current developments in clinical practice. The Clinical Supervisor will carry a small case load providing advanced professional duties of assessment &/or treatment and counselling in an individual &/or group format as applicable based on assessed treatment needs. You will be responsible for consultation to the members of the interdisciplinary team, and other professionals, to maintain liaisons with community resources & stakeholders.

The incumbent will participate in development of policies, protocols, procedures and guidelines for the Forensic Assessment Outpatient Service & its umbrella programs. Further, the successful incumbent will assist in the coordination of clinical service delivery of the Family Violence Treatment Program, the FAOS Sexual Offending program & the general treatment stream. Further, the incumbent will also participate in identifying and addressing the educational and skill development needs of the teams. The incumbent will also be involved in aspects of program development, implementation and evaluation; research and participate in staff training and in-service education.

In addition, the successful incumbent should be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule as some early evenings may be required for the provision of group therapy / group therapy supervision as required. As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision for a discipline, practice area or service sector supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. In this clinical leadership role, you will provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups.
• Supervise regulated staff requiring supervision to meet the regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.
• Observe clinical sessions, review clinical documentation and written reports, conduct team case consultations and offer support, and provide guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner.
• Contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community.
• Identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues.
• Provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation and performance evaluation of clinical staff.

Requirements

Master's degree in Psychology or Social Work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Active or eligible for full registration (not provisional) with the applicable regulatory college. A minimum of 5 years' experience in providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.

Additional Requirements

Master's degree in Psychology from an accredited program. Current Full and Active registration required or Master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization. Or Master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or Full registration with the applicable regulatory body. Must hold general registration prior to starting in the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical experience in a Forensic Community Mental Health Setting preferred. Experience with a Forensic Mental Health population preferred. Clinical experience working with individuals involved with the legal system an asset. Experience providing therapy to Sexual offenders &/or domestic violence offenders preferred. Prior experience (formal/informal) providing clinical supervision in a community clinic setting.
