Who we need

Reporting to the Director, Clinical Services, we are seeking a Consultant who will uphold CDI’s clinical standards and policies while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

As a Clinical Supervision Consultant, you will provide strategic oversight and leadership in the clinical supervision of a team of Clinical Managers. This pivotal role ensures that Clinical Managers and their teams are equipped to provide high-quality, evidence-informed, trauma-informed, and client-centered care in alignment with CDI’s clinical policies and standards.

This is a part-time, remote consulting role, working approximately 10 hours per week.

Who you are

You are a registered professional based in Ontario and in good standing with a relevant regulatory college (e.g., OCSWSSW, CRPO). You bring extensive supervisory experience in children’s mental health services. You may currently be running your own private practice and are seeking a meaningful way to extend your impact through part-time clinical supervision. You have provided clinical oversight to practitioners, guided case management and treatment planning, and supported teams through crisis situations. You are a strong communicator, a trusted mentor, and a leader who is passionate about advancing clinical practice to improve outcomes for children, youth, and families.

As our new Clinical Supervision Consultant, you will:

• Supervise. You will provide direct clinical supervision to Clinical Managers and their teams, ensuring practices align with ethical, professional, and organizational standards. You will develop individualized supervision plans, implement CDI’s Clinical Supervision Framework, and document regular sessions.
• Guide practice. You will support staff in clinical assessments, treatment planning, case management, and crisis intervention. You will oversee clinical documentation for accuracy, compliance with PHIPA, and best practice standards.
• Strengthen quality assurance. You will review documentation for quality and compliance, track supervision effectiveness, and make recommendations to improve practice. You will maintain risk management logs for escalated cases and advise on systemic risk mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to development. You will identify training and development needs for Clinical Managers and their teams, and coordinate or deliver targeted training sessions, providing input into updates of clinical policies and procedures where needed.
• Analyze and evaluate. You will monitor service volumes, caseloads, and emerging needs. You will contribute to program evaluation frameworks, outcome measurement tools, and reports analyzing supervision effectiveness and service delivery trends.
• Collaborate. You will work closely with internal leadership to coordinate supervision processes, ensure consistent service delivery, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across teams.

What you bring

• The expertise. You hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) or equivalent graduate degree and are registered in good standing with a relevant Ontario regulatory college (e.g., OCSWSSW, CRPO). You bring 5 years of clinical supervisory experience working with children, youth, and families with complex mental health needs. You have in-depth knowledge of evidence-based approaches, including trauma-informed care, family-centered therapy, and crisis intervention.
• The therapeutic expertise. You can engage with individuals and teams with sensitivity, empathy, tact, and diplomacy. You have exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to gain trust and nurture professional relationships. You are attentive and responsive, able to balance priorities and manage competing demands. You can provide calm guidance in high-stakes situations and model the importance of self-care.
• The integrity. You hold yourself to high professional standards and exercise good judgment in making decisions within the scope of this role. You adhere to excellence in professional and ethical standards, including principles related to supervision, documentation, confidentiality, and compliance. You are sensitive to the uniqueness and demands of a public service agency and can maintain the security of client-related and agency information.
• The people leadership. You lead by example and foster an environment of respect, collaboration, and openness. You are experienced in mentoring and coaching clinical professionals, supporting their growth, and strengthening team effectiveness.
