Reporting to: Manager, Ocular Recovery - Tissue

Classification: Clinical Specialist, Tissue

Worksite: Toronto, Ontario

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hour shifts

Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN), part of Ontario Health, is responsible for the coordination of organ and tissue donation and transplantation in Ontario. Our mandate includes increasing public awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation, education of health care professionals, and ensuring a safe and effective donation and transplant system in Ontario. We value honesty, trust, respect and compassion.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide mentorship and coaching to Tissue staff.
  2. Collaborate on training development for staff development, process improvement, and best practices.
  3. Review processes for workflow improvements and support initiatives to increase organ yield and allocation.
  4. Identify IT database improvements, work with IT, and educate staff on changes.
  5. Audit database records for compliance.
  6. Manage project tasks, communicate updates, and escalate risks.
  7. Participate in quality reviews and support implementation of recommendations.
  8. Work with stakeholders to optimize donation outcomes and streamline processes.
  9. Lead quality initiatives to increase tissue donor numbers and improve processes.
  10. Develop metrics for quality monitoring and utilize research for practice development.
  11. Assist in preparing for audits and inspections.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, biological or health sciences; Master’s preferred.
  • Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) is an asset.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in tissue donation or equivalent.
  • Project management and quality initiative experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and computer literacy.
Compensation and Employment Details:

Rate: $82,793.37 - $103,429.28 per annum

Type: Full-Time contract (15 months)

Location: Toronto, Ontario (hybrid, subject to change)
