Job summary

A healthcare facility in Manitoba is seeking a Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) to provide clinical expertise, coordinate patient care, and serve as the nursing lead for critical situations. Job description

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of, and in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management philosophy of the Misericordia Health Centre, the Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is responsible for providing clinical expertise to clinical team members. The CRN is responsible for assuming a leadership role in coordinating patient care within the healthcare facility to ensure quality patient care outcomes by providing expert nursing care to patients by promoting an interdisciplinary patient centred approach to care based on best practice; teaching nursing staff; performing charge nurse functions; advancing nursing practice and performing other related duties as assigned.

The CRN will be responsible for ensuring quality eye intake processes; will act as the nursing lead for Code Blue Response Team as well as providing clinical leadership and problem solving for all MHC Clinical Programs.

Experience

  • Three (3) years of recent experience preferred in Acute or Long-Term Care. Consideration to include training of recent graduates with practicum experience in acute areas.
  • Previous experience in ophthalmology an asset.
  • Charge nurse experience preferred.
  • Leadership experience preferred.

Education (Degree / Diploma / Certificate)

  • Current CRNM registration required.
  • Current CPR training at the ACLS level is required and will be provided by the employer. Must be acquired within one year of start of employment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Bachelor of Nursing preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A recognized course in Healthcare Management is an asset.
  • Certification / Licensure / Registration

  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of RegulatedNurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Current CPR training at the ACLS level is required.
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of : College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurse. Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses. Scope of practice as documented in the Registered Nurses Act. Regional / Facility / Unit policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines. Nursing care knowledge related to clinical area. Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts. Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team. Principles of delegation.
  • Ability to work within the Centre’s core values, philosophy, vision, C.Q.I. goals, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or a group of patients.
  • Ability to delegate care appropriately and monitor outcomes of delegated care.
