Job summary

Surrey Place in Toronto is seeking a Clinical Research Student to provide essential coordination and research support to the Chief of Psychiatry and clinical management. This 11-week, full-time contract offers 36.25 hours per week and a $20 per hour rate.

The role accelerates timelines, improves continuity across projects, and supports quality improvement initiatives, clinical innovation, and program evaluation within the DDPCP priorities.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Good communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge and understanding and/or lived experience with Developmental Disabilities.
  • The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector Screening).
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support research processes, coordinate research activities and maintain data integrity.
  • Triage the client waitlist, client files, and data set.
  • Facilitate communication with clients and/or caregivers, coordinating meetings, explaining the process, reviewing forms, ensuring they are prepared for any evaluation meetings.
  • Facilitate communication with partner organizations, coordinating meetings, reviewing forms, and creating an agenda.
  • Manage and access files containing research priorities (e.g., OneNote or Excel).
  • Access data base(s) to update research information including current contact information.
  • Digitize forms that need to be transferred to database files.
  • Securely transfer files via database portal to partner organizations as required.
  • Provide support to the clinical research team and mentor for QI and research projects.

Position Description

The Clinical Research Student will provide essential coordination and research support to the Chief of Psychiatry and clinical management, providing dedicated support to accelerate timelines and improve continuity across projects. This position will support quality improvement initiatives (e.g., +45 clinic review, Parent Enhancement Program, MMW clinic), clinical innovation (e.g., psychotropic medication monitoring and de-prescribing models), and broader program evaluation aligned with DDPCP strategic priorities.
