Opportunity for Clinical Research Project Assistant at the SickKids Research Institute

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), one-year contract position (renewable), supporting the PWS Insight Study, a project funded by the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research (FPWR).

The project focuses on validating a novel eye-tracking task (Food Attentional Bias or FAB task) as an objective biomarker of eating behaviour in individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS). The study involves testing and validation of the FAB task in individuals with PWS and matched controls.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate study activities, including scheduling participant visits and maintaining timelines across study sites.
  • Recruit and screen participants (including youth with PWS and matched controls), and lead informed consent processes with a systematized approach to tracking eligibility and contact attempts.
  • Assist in the administration of the FAB task, including calibration and eye-tracking procedures and the associated study protocol.
  • Collect, process, and maintain accurate participant records and study documentation.
  • Monitor data quality, conduct initial data scoring, and manage data entry (e.g., REDCap).
  • Prepare study reports and assist in creating presentations and manuscripts for dissemination.
  • Support patient and public engagement activities, including survey dissemination and communications.
  • Assist in ethical submissions, protocol amendments, and compliance with REB and DPO guidance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Psychology, Neuroscience or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant research experience, preferably in pediatric or neurodevelopmental populations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including demonstrated experience managing timelines, multi-step clinical protocols, and participant tracking systems in a clinical or research setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with participant recruitment and informed consent processes.
  • Familiarity with behavioural assessments and / or eye-tracking technologies is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with REDCap and other electronic data capture systems is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written); ability to explain research tasks clearly to children and caregivers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management software.
  • Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in a respectful and compassionate manner.
  • Flexibility to support occasional early morning or weekend sessions as required by participant availability.
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives.
Assets
  • Demonstrated experience managing study documentation and participant-level data across clinical research workflows, with proficiency in tools such as REDCap and Excel-based trackers.
  • Experience working with individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome or similar neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Training in the administration of clinical rating scales or structured interviews.
  • Experience working in multisite clinical research studies.
  • Bilingualism (French / English) or proficiency in additional languages.
