RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position Summary
Department / Research Program: Cancer Research Program
Our research team wants to recruit persons diagnosed with rare tumors for a clinical research project. The study objectives are to identify actionable molecular targets that could influence therapeutic decisions by the treating clinicians. The person hired for this position will play a critical role in managing this project. Duties will involve recruiting participants, overseeing sample and data collection, and facilitating sample and data transfer between research team members and laboratories.
General Duties
Under The Direction Of The Study Supervisor, The CRC
- Prepares and maintains study documentation,
- Attends selected tumor boards to identify eligible participants,
- Explains the study and the conditions for participation, answers questions, and obtains informed consent from participants,
- Reviews clinical charts of participants and extracts relevant data,
- Coordinates timely transfer of samples and data to and from the laboratories where work will be performed,
- Monitors milestones, deliverables and commitments set out by the PI and research team members.

Education / Experience
Education: Master's Degree
Field of Study: oncology, biology, biochemistry, genetics, epidemiology, or an equivalent relevant discipline
Other education considered an asset for this position: psychology, social sciences, ethics
Work Experience: previous work in a health care setting would be a strong advantage.

Required Skills
- Fluent in spoken and written French and English,
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision,
- Familiarity with databases an asset,
- Familiarity with ethics and medical concepts and terminology also an asset,
- Academic or professional references will be requested (e.g. supervisor of graduate project, former employer).
Additional information
Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience. $44,408.00 - $82,427.80
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
Work Site: GLEN Site, 1001 boul. Decarie
