We have an exciting permanent full-time opportunity for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join the Mental Health Substance Use (MHSU) Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) team in beautiful Kamloops, B.C.

The ideal candidate will have experience providing comprehensive psychological assessment and evidence-based individual and group interventions, including cognitive-behavioural approaches, and will be comfortable working within a bio/psycho/social framework. You will be an effective communicator and valued member of a multidisciplinary team, with the ability to collaborate with clients, families, health care providers, and community partners to develop coordinated treatment plans and support positive outcomes. What will you work on?

The Clinical Psychologist is a key member of the Tertiary Mental Health Services team, responsible for delivering comprehensive psychological services, including assessment, individual and group therapy, and treatment planning. Working within a multidisciplinary and collaborative Allied Health framework, this role emphasizes a bio/psycho/social approach to care, integrating psychological insights into broader treatment plans and ensuring coordination with community agencies and other providers to support patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

This role offers the Clinical Psychologist an opportunity of working autonomously and independently while practicing assessment and psychotherapy with a population that tends to be diverse and more complex. Some responsibilities include:

• Provides comprehensive psychological assessment services, utilizing standardized and evidenced based interview and assessment procedures.
• Within a bio/psycho/social treatment model and working as part of a multidisciplinary team, incorporates psychological assessment results with the broader treatment plan.
• Provides evidenced based (including behavioural and cognitive-behavioural) individual short-term therapy/counseling interventions.
• Participates in client/patient conferences and team meetings as required and communicates pertinent information to all disciplines involved.
• Supports an interdisciplinary approach to client/patient care and ensures coordination of services/programs with community agencies, other health care providers and special interest groups, by participating in interdisciplinary and interagency meetings for the purpose of collaboration around client/patient management, program planning, and discharge planning.
• Provides consultation to the treatment team, clients/patients, family and/or community personnel, regarding management and/or treatment of mental, behavioural, adjustment and psychosocial disorders.
• Evaluates effectiveness and appropriateness of treatment and resources by methods such as assessing client/patient functioning, identifying opportunities for change, and formulating recommendations for quality improvement to ensure optimal outcomes are met.
• Supports evidence based clinical practice by monitoring, evaluating, and contributing to the development of recommendations for change, within the context of ongoing program planning, consultation, and evaluation.

Scheduling Information

Shift times are from 08:00 to 16:30 hours. Days of work are Monday to Friday.

About This Unit

The Interior Health Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) program offers fast identification, treatment, and holistic recovery support for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis. Services target youth and young adults (typically ages 13 to 30 through partnered or regional teams), providing case management, family education, and counseling.
