The Opportunity

This position is within the Family Intensive Outreach Service (FIOS) of the Adolescent Intensive Services portfolio. FIOS provides community-based, intensive treatment to children and youth with Disruptive Behaviour Disorders and their families.

Reporting to the Clinical Manager of FIOS and under the team lead's supervision, the Clinical Psychologist will plan and deliver treatment to children, youth, and families, including evidence-based mental health interventions, staff supervision, psychological assessments, and program development. Services are provided in clients' homes or other convenient locations within Halifax Regional Municipality, requiring regular travel.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, 7.5-hour days

Qualifications
  • Ph.D./PsyD in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university.
  • Completion of an APA or CPA Accredited Predoctoral Internship in Psychology.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology.
  • Minimum five years of formal training and clinical experience in child/adolescent mental health; at least two years as a PhD/D Psych Psychologist.
  • Experience in assessment and treatment of youth with mental health and/or addiction issues, especially disruptive behaviors.
  • Proficiency in family and individual therapy.
  • Experience in clinical supervision and consultation preferred.
  • Knowledge of family systems approaches; experience with Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, time management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interprofessional team and handle administrative responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care preferred.
  • Required NCI Certification.
  • CPR Level C certification within the last 12 months.
  • Commitment to evidence-informed practice.
  • Participation in clinical training activities of the Psychology Discipline.
  • Additional language skills are an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia driver’s license and reliable transportation.
