Position Overview
Shared Health is currently recruiting 2 full time psychologists as part of an expansion of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model multidisciplinary team services, for adults with severe and persistent mental illness who require regular supports to assist with community living (e.g., have been hospitalized for extended periods, under special contract). The Psychologists will have varying roles on one or more of the three new, coordinated, direct care teams, Hub, Flexible- ACT and ACT, each of which has complementary mandates. The Hub team is responsible for the assessment, intake, and navigation of individuals to the most appropriate service. The Flexible ACT team provides case management and patient and family supports for a broad mental health client population, and offers intensive treatment for brief, acute periods where needed. The ACT team provides the standard supports of an ACT care approach, which includes crisis support and 24/7 wrap around care for individuals with severe mental illness. The multi-disciplinary team members will work within the teams to provide and deliver supports to the individual. The teams are based in the community at 1031 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.

Clinical Health Psychology (CHP), Shared Health is responsible for psychologist services in the health regions facilities and clinics. Clinical Health Psychology provides psychological services across the lifespan, from young children to older adults, providing team-based clinical care for a wide range of mental health and acute/chronic medical conditions. CHP Psychologists are based in hospitals, health centres, and primary care/community clinics.

The Psychologist in Adult Services provides consultation, assessment, treatment and clinical service development for a wide range of clinical conditions. Responsibilities and clinical population vary depending on the specifics of the position, and may include some of the following aspects: psychodiagnostic and cognitive assessment, individual or group treatment flexibly incorporating a number of evidence-based intervention approaches, work with multidisciplinary teams, inpatient, outpatient and/or community clinical care, clinical service development and evaluation, and consultation to/supervision with clinical staff and trainees, as appropriate.

As part of the leadership team (i.e., psychologist, psychiatrist, manager), the Psychologists will be involved in the planning, development, coordination, and evaluation of these new programs at the onset. They will be involved in the assessment and triage process of patients where required, and provide consultation to members of the team, The Psychologists will provide direct care including psychodiagnostic and cognitive assessments, as well as individual and group-based interventions as appropriate, with opportunity to develop behavior plans for behaviors of concern. There may be psychology resident and doctoral practicum training opportunities.

The Psychologist reports to the Medical Director, Clinical Health Psychology, Shared Health.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
• Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA-accredited training program
• Completion of a CPA or APA-accredited Internship/Residency in Clinical Psychology

Experience
• Education, training and clinical experience in a range of evidence-based psychological treatments, and individual & group treatment delivery with adults
• Education, training and experience in psychodiagnostic evaluation and cognitive assessment, including the administration and interpretation of standard adult psychological tests and measures
• Training and experience with severe and/or chronic mental illness presentations.
• Education, training and clinical experience with behavioural management planning and implementation an asset.
• Experience with consultation to health care providers and clinical teams

Certification/Licensure/Registration
• Registered or eligible to be registered for full independent practice as a C. Psych. by the Psychological Association of Manitoba. Supervision will be provided for individuals at the C. Psych. Candidate level until fully registered.
• Professional liability insurance required.
