The Clinical Projects & Procurement Lead will provide leadership and coordination with the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical projects and contribute to/lead research initiatives. The Clinical Projects & Procurement Lead demonstrates clinical excellence and experience in project management, communications and education strategies. The Lead will maintain critical communication links with the clinical areas and works collaboratively with clinical operational and support teams to successfully complete assigned projects. The position works closely with Directors, Program/Clinical Managers and the Professional Practice team.

In addition to clinical projects, the Lead will assist with consulting and coordination for clinical procurement needs. They will identify and consult with necessary invested parties related to procurement initiates and liaise with our third-party vendor, the appropriate education lead from Professional Practice (i.e. Clinical Educator, Professional Practice Lead, etc.) and other parties to inform educational plans related to new/updated devices/products. The individual occupying the position should have a good understanding of unit and clinic-based workflows, be capable of coordinating quality improvement/research projects across multiple units and setting and excelling at establishing and sustaining relationships both internal and external to Providence Care.

Required Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Medical Professionals from Diverse Educational Backgrounds
  • Master's preparation preferred, (e.g. MScN, MHSc, MHA, MBA) or equivalent combination of formal education, development and work experience
  • Current registration as a regulated health professional with the applicable College
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience in health care leadership
  • Minimum of three years’ experience with managing clinical health related projects
  • Minimum of three years’ experience with development and implementation of healthcare information systems
  • Project management certification or LEAN 6 Sigma Preferred

Role Responsibilities

  • Works in collaboration with the Clinical Leadership team to enable project outcomes that support excellence in clinical practice and support quality patient/family centered care
  • Supports clinical team members with the development of clinical project proposals, project planning and evaluation
  • Provides input into the development of project plans, workflow designs, operational improvements and implementation schedules
  • Maintains close contact with clinical leadership teams, external partners and other key Providence care committees to identify emerging clinical and organizational needs to triage, prioritize and initiate interprofessional projects/research in collaboration with the project most responsible person (MRP)
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Placement & Student Pathway Coordinator to assist with insight related to student/extern nursing programming
  • Works in collaboration with Providence Care staff, external consultants, advisors, and sponsors to achieve project outcomes
  • Leads and mentors’ temporary staff, providing direction and building capacity to deliver successful outcomes on focused initiatives
  • Leads quality improvement and research initiatives to inform clinical/operational process changes
  • Assists Professional Practice leadership with regular project reports to progress/ outcomes to appropriate Leadership Team members regarding clinical aspects of projects
  • Collaborates with the Communications Department to disseminate information to Providence Care Centre community regarding project/interprofessional research/initiatives to promote awareness/ engagement opportunities
  • In collaboration with Project MRP, facilitates change management efforts in a clinical setting as it relates to clinical project work
  • Supports the clinical team with patient/family consultation processes related to a project
  • Works in collaboration with the Project Management Office, Quality and Risk, Research Department, Decision Support and the Finance Department, where applicable, on clinical project development and implementation plans to define project scope, goals and deliverables that support clinical goals
  • Assists with the development of related policies and procedures required to support organizational clinical project initiatives
  • Participates in the identification and development of training programs and materials to support changes related to a clinical project
  • Provides leadership through coaching, mentorship, motivation and influencing toward successful project outcomes
  • Assists with coverage of the Clinical Placement & Student Pathway Coordinator portfolio
  • Informs and coordinates with the Clinical Placement & Student Pathway Coordinator to inform nursing programing for student placement and clinical extern role
  • Assists with coordinating monthly clinical orientation and associated processes as needed
  • Works in compliance with the Health & Safety Act and its regulations in performing duties in a safe manner and follows all health and safety policies, procedures and legislation including, wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
