Breakdown Detailer (Parts)
Reports to the Breakdown Manager on all matters regarding the assigned breakdown issue. The Breakdown Detailer (Parts) shall ensure to meet all schedules in a timely manner. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering.

Years of Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of breakdown experience.

Working Conditions

  • Site visits required; must have PPE for all site work and in certain other locations.
  • At times requires driving to visit sites.
  • Flexible to work overtime as required.

Level

  • Intermediate level position for incumbents wishing to pursue a career in any area of the Engineering Department or Project Management.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to read architectural, mechanical, structural, and slab edge drawings.
  • Knowledgeable in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor & MS Excel.
  • Communication with coworkers daily by telephone, email, and in person.
  • Ability to act as a mentor to junior breakdown detailers.
  • Demonstrate State's core values and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to release parts and material take-offs.

Job Specific Duties

  • Review approved shop drawings or marked-up shop drawings prior to doing breakdown.
  • Ensure working on the current set of shop drawings and approved sample list.
  • Attend a kick-off meeting with the installer to discuss any special requirements needed in window installation.
  • Mark all revisions on the shop drawing set used for as-built purposes.
  • Coordinate with installer and the FM as requested.
  • Prepare sketches where required.
  • Discuss with the PM and FM if there are discrepancies between the shop drawing and site measurements.
  • Release breakdown to purchasing and plant as per schedule and procedure.
  • Advise Breakdown Manager & PM ahead of time if the schedule will not be met.
  • Fill up breakdown package.
  • Review and update windows on-hold tracker, review Windows Breakdown Email release.
  • Update teams Breakdown Tracker.
  • Issue a request for material to purchasing, production, and/or service for any revision, site changes, or errors made and update original file.
  • Run an inventory report prior to finishing the project as requested to include hoists and windows on-hold.
  • Prepare more complex break shapes, such as corner posts.
  • Update installation plans according to procedures.
