Job description

Stenberg College seeks an organized, passionate, and relationship-driven Registered Nursing (RN) leader to join our Regional Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing (RDPN) Leadership Team as the Clinical Practice Manager for Year 1.

Reporting to the RDPN Program Director, the Clinical Practice Manager for Year 1 will oversee all aspects of first-year clinical education in the Older Adult, General-Medical, and Medical-Surgical clinical practice settings. This includes managing clinical operations, supporting faculty and students, maintaining strong partnerships with industry partners, and ensuring a high standard of clinical education that prepares students for competent and compassionate practice. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, sound knowledge of nursing regulation and nursing / psychiatric nursing scope of practice, and a commitment to fostering student success.

About our Program

The RDPN program is the only psychiatric nursing program in B.C. delivered across seven provincial regions through a blended eight-semester, 147-credit model. Students complete online theory courses (synchronous and asynchronous), attend in-person lab simulations at one of five regional labs, and engage in diverse clinical practice experiences spanning the lifespan and varying levels of health complexity.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with active practicing registration (in good standing) with the BCCNM with a minimum of 5 full-time years of nursing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred (candidates actively completing a graduate degree may be considered)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in nursing management and / or clinical education is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with digital tools such as project management software and communication platforms
  • Experience with HSPnet is considered an asset
  • Must be willing and able to occasionally travel throughout British Columbia to support faculty and students at clinical partner sites, travel expenses are paid

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to) the following :

  • Supports the recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of Clinical Practice Faculty in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition Team and Program Director.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and performance oversight to Clinical Practice Faculty and staff, fostering a collaborative team environment while ensuring regulatory compliance, professional excellence, and student-centered instruction.
  • Identifies and addresses faculty development needs, oversees performance evaluations, supports administrative coordination, and ensures timely communication, documentation, and resource sharing across Year 1 Clinical Practice placements.
  • Oversees all aspects of Year 1 student success in clinical practice by facilitating prep sessions, addressing concerns, implementing early interventions and Student Success Plans, managing dismissals and re-entries, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting students in meeting RPN Entry-Level Competencies.
  • Provides timely support to host sites and preceptors through faculty coordination, site visits, and regular check-ins, while maintaining open communication, resolving concerns, and ensuring alignment with Stenberg College’s Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement Process.
  • Ensures high-quality, compliant Year 1 clinical placements through careful site selection, documentation oversight, and strong industry partnerships.
  • Review and update handbooks, policies, and reports to support program accreditation and regulatory compliance.
  • Actively participates in internal and external meetings—including RDPN Leadership, PAC, health authority, and interschool sessions.

Employment Type

Part-Time (0.6 FTE), 3 days per week, 08 : 00-430pm, Monday-Wednesday, or Wednesday – Friday is preferred and may vary based on operational demands.
