Our Health, Wellness and Sciences Portfolio offers a wide variety of health-related programs that prepares students to support the health and wellness of our communities. Position Overview :

We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of Clinical Placement Manager. Under the general direction of the Associate Dean – Health, Wellness and Sciences the Clinical Placement Manager is responsible for overall coordination and organization of program specific clinical placement supports for several programs in Health, Wellness and Sciences across multiple campuses. Key Responsibilities :

  • Collaborates with Placement Officers and Program Coordinators to determine placement support requirements considering placement parameters (location, unit etc.), student numbers and staffing availability
  • Supports the recruitment of support staff roles (e.g. collaborating with Associate Dean and HR for postings, interview process and onboarding
  • Supports the scheduling and adjusting work assignments to best meet the needs of the sites, employees and students in terms of quality and consistency
  • Collaborates with Clinical and Program Coordinators in the development of preceptor resources.
  • Facilitates the completion of appropriate orientation and training programs for all prior to attendance at clinical placements and ongoing as needed
  • Act as first point of contact for health leadership team to review risks and address concerns identified in the placement setting
  • Responsible for the monitoring of adverse events reporting and development of quarterly adverse events scorecard and report.
  • Collaborates with the program areas in the development of processes to obtain stakeholder feedback regarding clinical placement / learning
  • Collaborates with the program areas on evidence based, best practices that support clinical education
  • Acts as a resource to the various programs as required to support accreditation, program approval and / or program renewal processes as required

Qualifications :

  • Successfully Completed a 4-year Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • Graduate degree in Nursing or related field would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience supporting student clinical placements
  • Current registration, in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • A minimum Five years experience in a health care clinical leadership role is required.
  • Knowledge of accreditation and program approval processes
  • Excellent written communication skills are required in order to write technical requirements documents, business process protocols and training documents.
  • Demonstrated oral communication skills are required in order to deliver training to internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and management skills (i.e. human / financial management)
  • Familiarity with working with Collective Agreements and applicable employment legislation
  • Strong Organization and planning skills are required.
