Northern Health is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – Pediatrics to serve as an expert practitioner, educator, and leader in pediatric pharmacotherapy at UHNBC in Prince George. You will provide consultation to health care professionals and deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical care to pediatric patients under the Pediatric Team.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of B.C.
• Certificate of completion of a Year 1 Pharmacy Residency Program accredited by the CPRB
• Certificate of completion of a Year 2 Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program accredited by the CPRB or an equivalent program

Position Summary

Are you a registered Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Pediatrics looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Pharmacy department.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values and strategic priorities of Northern Health, working within a collaborative team environment, and under the supervision of the Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor UHNBC, the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – Pediatrics, functions as an expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and leader in pediatric pharmacotherapy. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – Pediatrics acts as a clinical pharmacy resource, providing consultation service to internal and external health care professionals and delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients under the care of the Pediatric Team at UHNBC. This position will be involved in developing, planning, and organizing clinical, education and quality improvement/research activities related to pediatrics including participation in drug use evaluation practices, organizational policies and procedures, continuing education programs, and research initiatives, in accordance with the Maternal/Child Services’ and Pharmacy Services’ goals and objectives.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

Monday to Friday, Days - 08:00 to 16:00

Qualfications

• Current licensure as a Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of B.C.
• Certificate of completion of a Year 1 Pharmacy Residency Program accredited by the Canadian Pharmacy Residency Board (CPRB)
• Certificate of completion of a Year 2 Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program accredited by the Canadian Pharmacy Residency Board (CPRB) or recognized Graduate PharmD Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as demonstrated by a practice portfolio.

• Clinical pharmacy expertise: Applies clinical knowledge and skills to deliver expert level patient care and support pharmacy practice.
• Problem-solving and decision-making: Identifies challenges, analyzes options, and implements effective solutions to improve processes and outcomes.
• Evidence based practice and literature appraisal: Appraises, synthesizes, and applies clinical research, guidelines, and emerging evidence to inform therapeutic decision making, consultation, and best practice development.
• Quality improvement and research: Leads and contributes to quality improvement and research initiatives by identifying practice gaps, analyzing data, and evaluating outcomes.
• Educational program development: Designs, implements, and evaluates training and educational initiatives to support clinical practice and learner development.
• Strategic planning: Contributes to long term planning and continuous improvement initiatives that support clinical, educational, and organizational objectives.
• Mentorship and coaching: Provides guidance, feedback, and support to learners to foster skill development and clinical reasoning.
• Program evaluation and quality improvement: Assesses educational programs and leads initiatives to enhance quality, effectiveness, and compliance with standards.
• Communication (verbal and written): Clearly conveys information, instructions, and feedback through effective verbal and written interactions.
• Collaboration: Works cooperatively with internal and external interested parties to achieve shared objectives and maintain high standards.
• Technological proficiency: Utilizes relevant software and equipment to manage documentation, communication, and educational delivery.
• Physical capacity to safely perform the duties of the position.
